The assignment focused on reimagining the existing Arabian Tea House in Bastakiya, Dubai, with the goal of creating a fresh and modern alternative while preserving its historic structure and traditional essence. This process began with a thorough analysis of the existing space with features, such as the wind towers, courtyard, doors, and textures that define its character. Visiting the site allowed for a deeper understanding of its unique atmosphere and design elements, which served as inspiration for the new concept. The challenge was to introduce contemporary features and functionality that would enhance the café experience while honoring the original character of the space, merging modern aesthetics with the charm of traditional Emirati architecture.
